Impressionism Takes the Stage

The third in a series of lectures by Instructor Linda Loveland Reid

California impressionists painted the beauty of our state’s many vistas: ocean, desert, redwoods, vineyards, and eucalyptus trees. Artists include Guy Rose, Grandville Redmond, Joseph Raphael, and Colin Campbell Cooper, with visits from William Merritt Chase, Childe Hassam. Theodore Wores painted Chinatown. In a fight to move toward modernism we will review the Society of Six led by Selden Gile. Architect Julie Morgan designs Hearst Castle.

This lecture is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., June 25 on Zoom. The lecture is about an hour long and will be immediately followed by a moderated question and answer session. The Zoom room will open at 1 p.m. so the audience has time to login and settle in and can ask any tech/logistical questions, before the lecture begins promptly at 1:30 p.m.You will receive the requisite Zoom login information via email with your registration for this event, and again on the day before the lecture.

Like other non-profits, SCA is struggling with financial loss due to cancellation of exhibits, the postponement of Open Studios and the migration of the Film Festival to a digital format.

We know this is a hard time for many, including SCA, so registration is being offered on a sliding scale from $5-$50. Any amount will be very much appreciated.
