What is a monologue?

In theatre, a monologue is a speech presented by a single character, to express their mental thoughts aloud, as well as to directly address another character or the audience.  Monologues share much in common with several other literary devices including soliloquies, apostrophes, and asides. But, there are differences...  You’ll just have to take this 6 week class to find out the rest.

We will use found monologues and also your own written ones ☺.

Use this class as a supplement to your existing HS or JC Acting Class.  Monologues are the medium used for auditions for plays, getting into programs in college, impressing your friends, or just plain goofing around.  One can NEVER have too many Monologues under their belt.

Hi! I’m Starr/Hergie.  I have been teaching theatre for 48 years.  I taught at Analy HS, as well as BHS, and Rincon Valley, JH.  Some of my students have gone on to become Broadway and SF actors and Netflix actors.  Hope you’ll join me!
