Celebrity Chefs

Featuring: Chef Rick Vargas

La Bodega's Chef Rick Vargas is a true artisan, producing from scratch
some of the North Bay's best entrees, pastas, soups, vegan and vegetarian food.

His culinary career starts in San Francisco, where he grew up in an Italian restaurant run by his family. He studied classic French cuisine in Paris, and served under 3 and 4 star chefs at La Crocodile, Masa, Wolfgang Puck's and more. His style of true classic French, Italian and Mediterranean cuisine has set La Bodega apart in the North Bay dining scene.

For an appetizer, Chef Rick Vargas of La Bodega presents pear tartlet on puff pastry.

Pear compote and fresh pear is accented by a port reduction sauce and house-aged local Pt. Reyes Blue. The combination of savory, tangy, sweet and rich provides the quintessential appetizer flavor kick, with added flaky texture of puff pastry!

Featuring: Chef Josef Keller

A veteran chef, Josef Keller was born and raised in Switzerland. He has worked in the fine European hotels of Zurich, Geneva and the winter resort area of Verbier in an up-scale restaurant. On our side of the Atlantic, Chef Keller worked at la Scala’s in Philadelphia, and in 1980 he moved to Santa Rosa and opened La Province, a French continental restaurant, for a run of 12 years. Following that, he owned and managed Josef’s Restaurant & Bar at the La Rose Hotel for 17 years where Charles Schulz and his family were frequent customers.
