America Paints Itself

The fourth in a series of lectures by Instructor Linda Loveland Reid

Reeling from the Crash of 1929, artists painted the American scene. Maynard Dixon, Thomas Hart Benton, Diego Rivera, and photographer Dorothea Lange gave the painter’s voice to those struggling. Coit Tower murals were painted during the San Francisco Maritime Strike. The Golden Gate World Exposition celebrated two new bridges. Artists like Millard Sheets worked in the new California Style. Ansel Adams advanced photography to exciting highs.

This lecture is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., July 23 on Zoom. The lecture is about an hour long and will be immediately followed by a moderated question and answer session. The Zoom room will open at 1 p.m. so the audience has time to login and settle in and can ask any tech/logistical questions, before the lecture begins promptly at 1:30 p.m.You will receive the requisite Zoom login information via email with your registration for this event, and again on the day before the lecture.
